31/365

Today we went to our friends' 3-year-old birthday party held at Lucky Strike. What a cool place to have a party! Sofi loves bowling, especially with the little metal ramp they put on the lane for the kids.....And Sofi was the ONLY kid to get a STRIKE!!!!!!!!! WTG Sofi. (They also have REALLY good french fries there.)

And so this concludes month one of Project 365. Only 334 more days to go! I think I'll start on some week in review (or month in review) pages tomorrow :)

30/365: Hello Kitty Style

Photo action: Pioneer Woman, Soft and Faded

January is almost over and I haven't missed a day since I started. I'm very proud of myself.

So on to today's photo. This is Sofi en route to a playdate at the Children's Museum. It was sunny today. And windy. So Sofi needed her Hello Kitty shades. P.S. There is HK sticker on the lens that I can't bring myself to remove, so that's why it's still on there.

29/365: Playdate

Sofi had a playdate today with a long-lost (relatively speaking, they haven't seen each other in over a year, which = 1/4 of Sofi's life) friend, Zoë. I don't know what exactly what they did because for almost the entire time Zoë and Sofi were off together while I chatted with Zoë's mom, Maegan. I'm not complaining at all because it gave us a chance to catch up. I got a tour of Maegan's fabulous new house, got tips on decorating/moving, met the newest addition beautiful Eden, talked a little shop i.e. digi scrapbooking, and even scored a motherload (pun intended) of maternity clothing. Thanks Maegan!!!

So in honor of our little playdate (for both the girls and the grown-ups) here's a photo of Sofi and Zoë playing with Play-do. Here's to many more playdates in the future!

For this one I held the camera at arm's length and snapped away. I like how Jamie and I are looking at each other and Sofi is staring straight at the camera.

Sofi's brand-new cupcake shoes from Osh Kosh. She has a V.I.P. (Very Important Pre-schooler) presentation on Wednesday at school so I wanted to get her a new outfit and shoes. Her dress (which I think is actually a tunic) has the same print. I also got a matching dress for my little bun in the oven. It's gonna be fun dressing TWO girls! This photo is an homage to Liz and her photos of her fabulous shoes!

After a day at the home show (we checked out flooring, windows, kitchen remodel options) for our new house, we treated ourselves to Baja Fresh - a restaurant we haven't been to in over 3 years. We used to go fairly often when we lived in Los Angeles, but only recently discovered a branch in Bellevue. Jamie had a Corona with his burrito. And I had the most scrumptious fish taco ever. Yum.

20/365: a pair of Sofi's Ikea rainbow chairs

21/365: While Sofi was at preschool today, Jamie and I took a VERY short walk around the neighborhood. I was hoping to get a photo with a view of Seattle but it was a foggy day. Got this one instead....kinda like the moody feel...

21/365 (part 2): After I picked Sofi up from school I was taking some photos of her (surprise!). This is a split second after she had enough.

week one scrapped

This is my "week one" photos scrapped. (Technically I didn't start shooting until day 4, but I included 2 photos from day 5).

I used a FREE template by Shabby Miss Jenn available at her shoppe (see previous post for link) + papers, star by SMJ + Project 365 stamp and camera by Dawn Inskip.

18/365

It was a GORGEOUS day in Bellevue today. 50 degrees!!!!!
We had to get out of the house for a walk to the park.

I took a couple dozen shots, but I picked this one....
I'm pushing myself to get more interesting angles and perspectives, especially of Sofi (my favorite subject). Especially since I just joined a P365 Flickr group hosted by Liz. I mean look at the caliber of these photos! I think it will definitely motivate me to keep going....

And .....if you're looking for some ways to scrap your Project 365 photos, check out these FREE digital templates at Shabby Miss Jenn's shoppe.

And my friend Maegan tipped me off to this: If you didn't get a chance to order the Project 365 kit by CK, they are giving away some of the designs included in the kit.

fabulous!

I woke this Sunday morning to find a sweet message from Crystal:

Thanks Crystal. In fact, Crystal (who is on the Shabby Miss Jenn creative team with me) was the one to inspire me to create this blog especially for Project 365. So thanks Crystal for the award and the inspiration.

And now all awardees must list 5 things I'm addicted to right now:
  1. Taking photos
  2. This blog
  3. This paper company
  4. Vietnamese food
  5. TV (especially as some of my favorite shows return to the air, namely Lost and Battlestar Galactica)
And now I am passing the "fabulous blog" award to:
  1. liz (for her amazing photos and sophisticated digital designs)
  2. sasha (for her overall fabulousness and her beyond-inspiring scrapbook pages)
  3. michelle (for her amazing talent - she does it all: digi, paper and hybrid!)
  4. kristina (not only a fabulous photographer, her paper pages are sublime)
  5. danielle (who keeps me connected to my former life in L.A. through her blog and her amazing photos)
happy sunday!

Sofi's pre-school class had a field trip to Seattle's Burke Museum.

Today started as a very foggy gray day (taken at 9:30 AM from inside my warm house)

By 1:30 in the afternoon, the sun made a rare appearance. Against my warnings, Sofi looked at the sun! "Look at the sun, mama!" I'm not the only one whose mom told her that looking at the sun would make you go blind, right? Luckily there was a veil of clouds still covering the blinding rays and she had the good sense to squint.

p.s. The dress Sofi wearing is an oversized (girl's size) old navy shirt (which I got on sale) with an iron-on (which i got at Joann's). Sofi really wanted a white, "EVA" dress last year, but of course I couldn't find one online or in stores. She is obsessed with WALL-E.

catching up

10/365

Jamie and Sofi have a collection of dice rivaling my collection of buttons for scrapbooking!
Jamie has been a gamer since junior high so it is no surprise he has polyhedral dice as well as teeny tiny ones used to keep track of energy during role-playing games. What is surprising is Sofi's love of dice as well as games like Warhammer Quest. They were playing a rousing game after dinner when I took this shot.

Sofi and I (mostly I) made did a little jewelry making today. I used a set she got for her 4th birthday party.

i'm still here!

I have been dutifully taking photos but haven't had a chance to process or post them yet.
We are in the middle of buying a new house so we are pretty busy around here!

Be back soon!

9/365: baby bump

Photo action: Pioneer Woman
Photo mask: Paislee Press

Compared to my first pregnancy, I have not taken lots of photos of my growing self.

I blame this on a number of factors:

1. Lack of good light in WA. LA was sunny all the time. Plus I wasn't wearing heavy coats that covered my belly. I just had to step out on my balcony and get Jamie to snap a photo.

2. Plain old laziness.

3. Lack of cute outfits.

4. My overall yucky experience during the first trimester: the morning sickness, crankiness and fatigue does not a good photo make.

5. I feel fat.

So, this is my first really attempt at getting a belly shot.

I was inspired by this pregnancy mini album to get my act together and start documenting my pregnancy. Isn't it lovely? Not only are the photos gorgeous, but it is a hybrid album using designs by Paislee Press - one of my digi designers.

forever your (paper) girl

Scrapbook paper makes me happy. That's why I can never give it up. I love digi. But as long as Sassafras makes collections like this, I'm forever a paper girl too.

I wish I could say I made this yummy felt cupcake, but I didn't. I bought it on Etsy - at Smarmy Pants' shop. Sofi has taken possession of it - as part of her playfood for tea parties. I would love to get a few more - just to put on my desk. Like this one or this one.

One trick I have to take photos of Sofi these days is to tell her a joke. Or any thing even remotely resembling a joke. This brings out her natural smile and joy to her face. Otherwise, Sofi will pose with her smiling for the camera smile. Cute too, but not so natural.

5/365: Nermil (part2)

I took a few shots of our cat Nermil aka Zippy (because she never stays in one place too long).
I couldn't resist posting this photo too. (it well help me make up the 3 days I missed :)

A new blog for Project 365

I attempted photo 365 last year and stopped about 1/3 through the year.
I never stopped taking photos or creating - just not every single day.

This time I am going to try again. But give myself permission to miss a day or two. As well as to post less than stellar photos. Like this one ;)

Day 4: Me in the mirror.

And to give me even more motivation, I created this blog just for Project 365.
